A Muhurtham is an elected window of time judged favourable for beginning something specific — a marriage, a house warming, a journey, a new venture. It is chosen by examining the Panchangam of candidate days rather than read from a birth chart.
Each candidate day is assessed on its Panchangam — the weekday, Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana — and penalised for the inauspicious windows within it, then ranked so the stronger days sort to the top.
Treat the results as a shortlist, not a verdict. Family tradition and regional convention vary considerably, and an astrologer will also weigh the birth charts of the people involved, which a date search does not do.
