Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and the day's timings for any place.

About

The Panchāṅga — literally "five limbs" — is the traditional Indian almanac for a day: Vara (weekday), Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (the star the Moon occupies), Yoga and Karana. This computes all five for any date and place, with sunrise/sunset and the three inauspicious windows: Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam and Gulika Kalam.

Frequently asked questions

What are the five limbs of the Panchāṅga?

Panchāṅga literally means "five limbs": Vara (the weekday), Tithi (the lunar day), Nakshatra (the star the Moon occupies), Yoga and Karana. A Panchangam for a date reports all five, together with sunrise and sunset.

Does the Panchangam change with location?

Yes. The five limbs turn over at particular moments of absolute time, but which part of the day that falls in — and the sunrise the day is reckoned from — depends on where you are.

Which inauspicious periods does it show?

The three daily windows read from the weekday and the daylight span: Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam and Gulika Kalam.
