The nine grahas of Indian astrology: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, plus the two lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu. Rahu and Ketu are always exactly 180° apart.
Retrograde describes a planet that appears to move backwards through the zodiac as seen from Earth. It is an apparent effect of the two orbits, not a real reversal, and the Sun and Moon are never retrograde.
Calculations use the sidereal (nirayana) zodiac. Lahiri is the default ayanamsa — the one used by the Indian civil calendar — with Raman and KP available as alternatives.
